Sibusiso Gamede
Sibusiso Gamede leads the team at Gamede Attorneys. Sibusiso passion and interests in this area of law emanates form the fact that he had spent more than ten years as a refugee. He is a lawyer with an outstanding national and international reputation for his work on issues concerning administrative, human rights and refugee law.
Sibusiso has practices as an attorney since 1996 in South Africa, Lesotho and Namibia since 1996.
He has written extensively on administrative, human rights and refugee law, and has spoken at many conferences around the world on various issues relating to the human rights, environment and administrative law.
Sibusiso is currently working on some of the most important judicial review cases dealing with the rights of the asylum seekers and refugees, access to housing, health care and education. He represents a number of refugees and asylum seekers in the ongoing judicial review proceedings relating to the arbitrary arrest, detention and deportation of immigrants.
Sibusiso is currently training lawyers, government officials and communities on the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act. He has also authored manuals for litigators and paralegals on the Promotion of Administrative justice Act. Sibusiso is accredited as PAJA expert by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development and also by the GTZ (German Development Institute)
Sibusiso has worked as the Chief Executive Officer-Black Lawyers Association, Chief Director Department of Environmental Affairs, Consultant United Nations Basel Convention Pretoria Centre, Special Advisor –Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs, Special Advisor Department of Minerals and Energy-Climate Change, Deputy Chief Land Claims Commissioner Department of Rural Development and Land Reform and as the Chief Executive Officer-Pinnacle Point (listed in JSE).
